Jury convicts multiple Gangster Disciples members for three brutal gang related murders

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. – The United States Attorney’s Office Middle District of Georgia shared a press release on Friday, August 18, 2023, regarding the recent convictions of several local gang members. On Thursday, August 17, 2023, a federal jury handed down convictions against three members of the Gangster Disciples, holding them accountable for their roles in three brutal murders in Athens, Georgia.

The crimes were committed as acts of retribution following the killing of another gang member. Two additional Athens residents who were falsely suspected of cooperating with law enforcement were also murdered.

34-year-old Philmon Deshawn Chambers, known as “Dolla Phil,” and hailing from Atlanta, was found guilty on multiple charges including Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization (RICO) conspiracy, Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering – Murder (VICAR-Murder), Carry and Use of a Firearm During and In Relation to a Crime of Violence, and Causing the Death of a Person Using a Firearm. Chambers now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison for the VICAR-Murder offense and a maximum of life in prison for each of the other charges.

28-year-old co-defendant Andrea Paige Browner, also known as “Drea,” from Athens, Georgia, was convicted on charges of Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization (RICO) conspiracy, Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering – Murder (VICAR-Murder), and Causing the Death of a Person Using a Firearm. Browner, too, faces a mandatory minimum life sentence for the VICAR-Murder offense and a maximum of life in prison for the remaining charges.

35-year-old Lesley Chappell Green, aka “Grip,” from Stone Mountain, was found guilty of Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization (RICO) conspiracy, with a maximum sentence of life in prison.
