GORDON COUNTY, Ga. – On October 13, 2023, Gordon County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 54-year-old Gainesville man, Robert James Adamson, after Adamson discussed having sexual intercourse with whom he believed was a juvenile girl via text messaging. In a sting operation beginning in August 2023, an undercover detective chatted with the suspect via the WhatsApp application and stressed to him “multiple times that she was 14 years old.”
When asked, Adamson told the detective he “would be okay with having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old.” He said that he “would teach” her.
On September 12, 2023, Adamson asked to switch from WhatsApp to Session “so he could send nude pictures of himself.” He proceeded to send two photographs of his penis to the decoy.
