Woman charged after being found unresponsive on floor toddler unattended in high chair

HALL COUNTY, Ga. – On October 2, 2023, Oakwood Police officers responded to an overdose call at a Prospect Point Drive residence located in the Mundy Mill Township neighborhood. Law enforcement immediately recognized the home due to previously responding to two overdoses at the location on March 27, 2023, and March 30, 2023.

They were also aware of BOLOs (be on the lookout) conducted for the resident and suspect, 36-year-old Shannon Brittany Villa Corta, placed by her husband in the past. On April 3, 2023, after Villa Corta failed to respond to his phone calls, he suspected she was driving under the influence (DUI) to purchase drugs with their child in the vehicle.

The first to arrive at the scene, a sergeant found Villa Corta lying unresponsive on a bathroom floor and administered Narcan. She regained consciousness, and Hall County EMS arrived, but Villa Corta
