WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. – On November 24, 2023, Dalton Police officers arrested William Labron Holmes and charged him with murder for stabbing a man in the neck. Responding officers arrived at the residence and found a witness “holding a bloody male subject in his arms, saying, ‘They stabbed him in the neck’ and ‘There’s so much blood.’”

The officers told the man to step away, and they checked for the victim’s breathing. They “observed massive blood loss on his body and on the ground beneath the subject. He was not moving and showing no signs of life.”

They interviewed the witness, who “was panicked and interrupted his story with short interjections of ‘There’s so much blood’ and ‘He stabbed him in the neck.’” As he cried, he explained that the victim’s ex-girlfriend had come by to pick up some of her belongings.

From the bathroom, the witness heard the victim and his ex-girlfriend arguing before walking outside. He exited the restroom and saw the victim’s father follow them.

He heard the ex-girlfriend say, “Get him, Willie,” and saw “a large white male, Willie, come from a gray Camry” and begin to physically fight with the victim near the back porch. After the victim’s father told the witness to break up the fight, he moved to separate them “when Willie stopped fighting and walked up the embankment” to his vehicle.

He saw the victim “walk out into the backyard holding the back of his neck or head.” He told him to come inside so he could assess his injury, but he “fell down in the yard.”

The witness “rushed over to him and could see large amounts of blood coming from his neck, and he was coughing up blood.” He applied pressure to the wound until authorities arrived.
