LaFayette man throws wifes elderly friend off 12 foot porch as he urinated report says

Walker County (February 19, 2023) – Officers responded to a Furnace Creek Road residence regarding an assault involving a man throwing an elderly man off a 12-foot-tall porch. The victim explained that the suspect, wearing a beige ski mask, assaulted him while urinating off the back porch.

He said he punched Jacob Jimmy Jarvis in the face approximately five times before he got thrown from the structure. The officers observed a large laceration on his back and a few scrapes on his hip and side, but he denied medical treatment.

The victim and a witness stated that Jarvis is the witness’s husband, and they are experiencing a “messy divorce.” They said he had been harassing and threatening to kill them all day via texts and phone calls. The elderly man is a friend and allowed the woman to live with him through the divorce.

His wife added that he told her that the victim would be one of four people he killed if he lost custody of their children in court.

The officers secured warrants, and on February 22, they arrived at Jarvis’ residence and arrested him. He was charged with aggravated assault, financial transaction card theft, exploitation and intimidation of disabled adults, elderly persons, and residents, terroristic threats, and abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a disabled or elderly person. This case is currently pending in court.

[NARRATIVE #1 on February 19, 2023]

On [02]/19/2023 at approximately 0128 hours I was dispatched to the listed location in reference to an assault. When I arrived on scene, I began speaking with the victim.

The victim stated that the suspect came over while he was urinating off of the back porch and began trying to throw him over the back porch. The victim stated that he punched the suspect 4-6 times in the face before being thrown over the porch. The victim had a large laceration on his back and a few scrapes on his side and hip. I asked him if he wanted to be seen by an ambulance and he stated that he did not. His roomate then stated that she will bring him to the hospital to be checked out tomorrow.

The victim stated that he could tell that it was the suspect, even though the suspect had a beige ski mask on. His roommate then stated that she saw him and it was the suspect. They both stated that the suspect has been harrassing them all day by texting and calling them. The victim stated that he was able to block the suspect’s phone calls. The victim also stated that the suspect told him a couple days ago that he was going to kill him.

The witness stated that the suspect is her husand and that they are currently going through a messy divorce and that the victim is their friend and he is letting her move in with him. He stated that the suspect has told them multiple times that he was going to kill the victim and that he told the witness that if he lost custody of their children in court that the victim is one of 4 people that he is going to kill.

The victim then took me outside and measure the distance where he fell. The victim fell approximately 12 foot off of the back porch. I asked him again if he would be willing to be checked out by EMS and he stated that he did not want to.

Due to the victim’s age and disability, I will be applying for warrants for the listed charges. The victim was advised the process for a TPO. The victim asked if we could park a car at his residene for the night. I told him that I couldnt but I would try and stay in the area.

[NARRATIVE #1 on February 22, 2023]

On 2/22/2023 at approximately 2120 hours, I was dispatched to the listed address in reference to the caller knowing where the listed suspect was currently located. While on the way to the scene, dispatch advised that the warrants were in hand on both the suspect and witness. When I arrived on scene, I spoke with both the caller and listed other.

The caller stated that the witness had texted the listed other and stated that her and the suspect was at their residence. I then looked and saw that the witness did text the listed other and she stated that she was at her residence down the road and wanted him to bring her the debit card she had left.

Due to the listed charges and the knowledge that the listed suspect possible had a 12 gauge shotgun in the residence, I waited for my sector partner to arrive on scene before we proceeded to the residence.

Then Deputy Hopkins arrived, we then went to the suspect’s residence. When I walked up to the residence, I could hear movement in the residence. I then knocked on the door and yelled “Sheriff’s Office”. I could hear more movement and I knocked on the door again. The door literally shook when I knocked it, I then lightly pushed on the door and it began to fell. At that time, the listed witness picked up the door and moved it to its side. I then told her hey and asked her if the suspect was home. She then stated that he was not home. I then asked if I could come inside and search for him and she stated that I could, but the house was messy. I then stepped inside the residence and stated asked again if the suspect was here. She then said no again. At that time, the suspect came walking into the living room and yelled “I’m right here”.

At that time, I placed the suspect in custody for the listed charges. I handcuffed him behind the back, checked for fit and double locked. I then searched him for weapons and contraband. None were found. I then walked him over to my patrol car. I searched the rear for weapons and contraband, none were found. I then placed him in the back of my patrol car.

Deputy Hopkins handcuffed the witness, checked for fit and double locked. He then searched her for weapons and contraband. None were found. She was then placed in the back of my patrol car.

Then transported both parties to the Walker County Jail. They were turned over to jail staff without incident. While in the sally port of the jail, I read the suspect the Miranda Warning and asked him if he was willing to speak. He stated that he did not understand and did not want to speak to me at this time. Beginning mileage 13394, ending mileage 13409. At the jail, I executed warrants #W23020121, W23020122, and W230123 for the listed suspect.
