On July 29th, 2023 at approximately 4:06 p.m. Ofc. Clay Morgan and I were dispatched to a hit and run accident. We were advised by dispatch that one subject was parked in the parking lot of Subway on McIntosh and the other vehicle fled the scene. Dispatch advised that the caller gave the tag of [REDACTED] that belonged to a white in color Toyota Corrolla.
Dispatch advised that the tag given came back to a Derek Collins who resided at [900 BLOCK] Warthen Street in Vidalia. Dispatch advised the vehicle was a 2010 Toyota Corrolla white in color. I advised Ofc. Skyler Jackson to respond to Warthen St so that we could get the other parties information and investigate why they left the scene of the accident.
Upon our arrival, we made contact with the victim [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that he was stopped on Loop Road at the yield sign due to traffic when the other vehicle hit him in the rear.
