On 7/30/2023, Toombs County deputies conducted a safety check point at the intersection of Ezra Taylor Road and Lyons Center Road. I, Deputy Patlan came in contact with the listed vehicle, a tan in color Cadillac SUV as it approached from the southbound lane of Ezra Taylor Road.
I approached the drivers side window and informed the driver we were conducting license checks and needed him to provide me with his license. While talking to the driver a strong odor of marijuana and alcohol was coming from inside the vehicle. I instructed the driver to turn into the parking lot of Road & Field Equipment so I could conduct a further investigation.
The driver later identified by his drivers license as, MARK CLAXTON, advised me he had a drink several hours ago but was now heading home with someone from the bar. I instructed CLAXTON and the female in the front passenger seat, later identified as ASHLEY EVANS to step out the vehicle
