LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. – On December 3, 2023, Walthourville Police officers arrested a Hinesville man, Hervey Lee Washington, for allegedly raping a woman in front of her three juvenile children.
On October 23, 2023, the female victim called the police to report the rape that had occurred the previous day. She explained to the officer that on Saturday evening, she had invited Washington, a supposed “family friend,” to her home “to hang out and have a few beers.”
She said neither she nor Washington consumed any hard liquor or used “any sort of narcotics,” but she recalled drinking “two or three 16-ounce cans of Bud Light, just enough to the point where she felt relaxed.” At approximately 11:00 PM, she told him she was feeling tired and “offered for him to sleep in her shed outside of her home, to avoid him walking home, intoxicated.”
