The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office on January 18, 2024:

Update #2: On January 17, 2024, at 9:16 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Medical Office Building to assist Atrium Health Navicent Police with an armed subject who barricaded himself inside a restroom. After several hours of negotiating with the subject to remove him safely from restroom, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team began to make entry.

On January 18, 2024, at 12:45 a.m., the subject took his own life. The armed subject was identified as Christopher Clyde Valentine Sr. of Macon. Christopher Valentine was forty-nine-years old. According to Coroner Leon Jones, the next of kin has been notified.

Update #1: On January 18, 2024, The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team began to make entry into the restroom of Medical Office Building to remove an armed subject. It was at that point; the subject took his own life.

No one else was harmed during this incident. The name of the deceased will not be released at this time. The next of kin has not been notified.

BIBB COUNTY, Ga. – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Atrium Health Navicent Police with an armed male barricaded inside of a restroom in a medical building.

The call for assistance came in at 9:16 p.m., from Atrium Navicent Police. It was reported that an armed male was locked inside of a restroom in a Medical Office Building located at 770 Pine Street. Shots were reported fired inside of the room occupied by the suspect.
