FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – On January 1, 2024, Floyd County Police officers arrested 35-year-old Tabitha Shehan Jones for allegedly assaulting and threatening an elderly patient at Chulio Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. Jones faces charges of battery and felony exploitation/intimidation of disabled adults, elder persons, and residents.

The victim’s daughter told the responding officers that her mother told her Jones had “cut her hand today” and “made her bleed.” She said Jones had also previously “punched the wall and told her, ‘Next time it will be your face.’” She said her mother had “multiple bruises on her arms” as well.

The 74-year-old victim explained that she wanted her medication, so she “grabbed the cord with the button to call the nurse with her left hand.” She said Jones entered her room at approximately 5:00 AM “and yanked the cord from her hand,” cutting her skin and causing it to bleed.

She stated, “Last Friday, Ms. Jones walked in the room, punched the curtain, and also punched the wall,” before threatening to “hit her in the face.” She showed the officers “bruises on her hands and arms” and said that Jones had been “physical” and had “hit her.”

Jones told the officers that she entered the room to “change” the patient, and she “had to take the cord from [her] because she had to turn her facing the other way to be able to change her.” She said she “did not realize that the metal piece from the cord had snagged [her], making a cut to her hand.”
