On Tuesday, January 30th, 2023, I, Deputy Keelan Moore, was working the Burke County High School basketball game when I witnessed a verbal altercation occurring between Carlos Lambert and [VICTIM #1]. I stepped in between both parties and attempted to deescalate the situation. While Deputy Brandon Smith and I attempted to deescalate the situation, both parties continued arguing over us and then Lambert grabbed [VICTIM #1] by his shirt and pulled him down the stands. After Lambert grabbed [VICTIM #1], Lambert began striking [VICTIM #1] in the head. Both parties were separated. Deputy Mark Barnwell escorted [VICTIM #1] out of the school through the front door. I escorted Lambert through a side door to his vehicle. All of this occurred with other patrons and students present inside the gymnasium. Both were escorted off of school campus to remove them from the presence of patrons, faculty, and students.
During the altercation my body camera was knocked off and I was not able to activate it. Camera footage of the incident is available via the high school security cameras and is available upon request.
Warrants will be secured for Carlos Lambert for Disorderly Conduct and Disrupting Public Schools.
