On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 0306 hours, I was turning onto Goodyear Avenue from Cassville Road, Cartersville, GA, when I observed a red in color Ram 1500 traveling in front of me with an inoperable third brake light.
I activated my emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle stopped on Goodyear Avenue just west of Mayflower Street. I met with the driver and informed him for the reason for the stop.
I asked the driver to exit the truck and he complied. I asked the passenger what his name was and he stated “Robert.” Robert stated he was heading home and indicated he lived in the area of Atco, the stop location.
Once at the back of the truck, I asked the driver if he knew the passenger. The driver knew him as Robert but did not know his last name. The Driver stated they were traveling to [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Parmenter Street nearby to conduct remodeling work. Based on the time of night, I found this to be odd.
I asked the driver for his consent to a search of his vehicle. The Driver consented and Robert was asked to step out. I conducted a search of the vehicle and did not locate any contraband in the cab.
