On Friday, June 02, 2023, at 0537 hours, I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Oakridge Drive SE Cartersville, Ga 30120, in reference to a physical domestic.
Upon arrival, I spoke to Garrett Thomas. Garrett said he was in a physical fight with his stepfather [VICTIM #1]. Garrett said he left for the store to buy a Vape and could not find the one he wanted. Garrett said this irritated him. Garrett said when he walked back into his residence, he stepped on one of the dogs in the home and he told the dog to “get the fu*k out of the way.”
Garrett said [VICTIM #1] said something to him. Garrett asked what did you say to me. Garrett said they started arguing back and forth with each other. Garrett said [VICTIM #1] brought up old past issues they have had, and Garrett said the argument became more serious. Garrett said [VICTIM #1] stood up to his feet and told Garrett, “he was a grown-a*s man.” Garrett told [VICTIM #1] if he came close to him, he would whip his a*s.
Garrett said [VICTIM #1] walked closer to him and had a look in his eye that he could recognize as someone going to hit someone. Garrett said he saw [VICTIM #1] ball up his left hand. Garrett said he hit [VICTIM #1] first. Garrett said they started fighting. Garrett said, “he haymaker him with some good punches.” Garrett said even though he was his stepfather, he still loved him and did not want to keep beating on him.
Garrett said he got him in a rear naked choke. Garrett said they were still arguing back and forth. Garrett said he could have really hurt him with the choke, but he did not want to.
I observed injuries to Garrett. I took pictures of Garrett’s hands and face area.
I spoke to [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] said Garrett was asking [VICTIM #1] if he would take him to the store to buy a vape. [VICTIM #1] said he took him to a couple of stores because he could not find the right one. [VICTIM #1] said Garrett was mad because he could not find the right vape.
[VICTIM #1] said they went back home. [VICTIM #1] said he walked in, and Garrett was still outside. [VICTIM #1] said Garrett came into the house, slamming the door and kicking the dogs, and [VICTIM #1] asked Garrett
