On May 29th, 2023, I was dispatched to 140 Laying Farm Road, Baldwin State Prison, at 4:44am in reference to transporting drugs.

Prior to arrival, dispatch advised a white Mercedes Benz was behind the J building and it looked like the subject was having car trouble.

Upon arrival, I rode around the perimeter and made contact with the vehicle and the driver, later identified as Rashad Blackwell, who was still in the vehicle. I asked Blackwell to step out and come to the rear of his vehicle. Blackwell was placed in handcuffs while I conducted the investigation. Officer Webb arrived on scene and stated the vehicle smelled like marijuana and spoke with the Blackwell. Blackwell consented to a search of the vehicle where a small amount of marijuana was located. The marijuana was destroyed.

I spoke with Department of Correction (DOC) personnel, who stated they saw Blackwell on camera throwing contraband over the fence. DOC personnel stated they spoke with the investigator and he wanted to place a hold on Blackwell. Blackwell was transported to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center without incident. The case was turned over to DOC investigations.
