On Monday, July 17, 2023, at approximately 1115 hours, while on routine patrol, I observed a white Ford work van with a male driver who did not have his seat belt on. I activated my lights and siren and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a stop on East Hill St. by Salem Rd.
I contacted the male driver and informed him why I stopped him. I asked for his license, which he then provided an ID card. When talking to the driver, I could smell a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage as well his eyes were glassy and bloodshot.
I checked his information through GCIC/NCIC, which showed Daniel Wade had a suspended license. I asked Wade to exit the vehicle. While exiting, he used the vehicle door for support; and he was swaying and unsteady. While he was out of the vehicle, I could smell the odor coming from his breath.
