GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – On December 7, 2023, a Brunswick man was stabbed repeatedly with a screwdriver in a Brunswick-Glynn County Library restroom by a homeless man after asking him to turn down his music, according to a Brunswick Police report. Officers located and arrested Stephen Grant Simpson outside the library near Bay Street after the attack and charged him with aggravated assault.

A responding officer “entered the library from the back entrance and saw drops of blood in the main hallway leading to a bench” where the victim was seated. The officer observed him “bleeding from the injuries on his head” and “there were spots of blood surrounding the bench.”

The victim explained that he entered the men’s lavatory “to ask a Black male, later identified as Stephen Simpson, to turn down his music.” Simpson yelled at him, claiming he “owned the library and this was his
