Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Tases Suspect, Lies in Report

Body camera footage requested by The Georgia Gazette shows suspect Michael Ramone Blair, 30, in Lowndes County being held at gunpoint by Investigator Sorrell, as another officer, Deputy K. Bair, runs up to the scene and within seconds, tases Blair in the chest at close range. The video shows Blair complying with the deputy’s instructions right up to the point of being tased.

Blair was wanted after fleeing from a traffic stop moments earlier.

In the official report, created by Investigator Aaron Girdler and approved by Robert Picciotti, both of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, state Blair was resisting arrest and was shot in the back – the body camera footage shows an entirely different version of these events.

Immediately following the taser deployment, you can hear Deputy Bair continuing to tase the suspect, while being handcuffed. Blair does not appear to be resisting.

Several emails have been sent Bair’s supervisor, Lt. Kerry Quinn, as well as Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk. We began emailing their office in October of 2021. All of our emails have been ignored at the time of writing.

The following is the body camera footage. It has been condensed to include just the parts relative to the report above.
