GBI charges Milledgeville fire chief with battery against former employee at fundraiser

The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on November 29, 2023:

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested and charged Milledgeville Fire Department Chief William Taft Collier, Jr., age 57, of Fayetteville, GA with simple battery.

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, the Milledgeville Police Department requested the GBI to assist with an investigation into an incident that occurred between Collier and a former fire department employee during a fundraiser at the Baldwin County High School Gymnasium on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

Collier was booked into the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

This investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Milledgeville at 478-445-4173.
