On February 8, 2024, at approximately 1000 hours, I, Deputy Jenny Dalton met with Mrs. [WITNESS #1] in the conference room of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a report of child abuse.
Mrs. [WITNESS #1] stated that on Sunday when she returned home with her son, [VICTIM #1], after custodial exchange took place at 1800 hours, she saw that he had what appeared to be a hand print on his upper right thigh and the markings of a ring. Mrs. [WITNESS #1] took a photo of the mark and contacted the Father of [VICTIM #1], Mr. Michael Grant Faulkner Jr., who responded to her text stating that it could have been from the spanking or wrestling. The Father stated in the text message that [VICTIM #1] had been having a “meltdown” on Saturday and he didn’t handle it in the best way, and also stated that he hates that he has bruises.
Mrs. [WITNESS #1] has contacted her divorce attorney trying to arrange for supervised visits, and they advised that she make a report. When I made contact with [VICTIM #1], in the conference room, I asked if his Dad had spanked him, he said yes, and I also asked if he yelled at him, he said yes and that it scared him. I then asked if I could see the mark, Mrs. [WITNESS #1] allowed it and the mark was still somewhat visible on this date. I did obtain a photo of the mark today along with photos from Sunday, and Tuesday that Mrs. [WITNESS #1] provided for me.
I contacted [REDACTED] with DFACS and notified her of the situation and they are going to develop an emergency safety plan with Mrs. [WITNESS #1]. I gathered the information for the report and will be obtaining a warrant.
