BARROW COUNTY, Ga. – On September 6, 2023, DFCS alerted law enforcement about a seven-month-old female who was dropped off at the hospital by her paternal grandmother after a doctor’s appointment. Medical staff at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit revealed that the infant suffered from “severe malnutrition.”

On September 7, 2023, Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies traveled to a City Pond Road residence to serve a warrant for two suspects. They located the two individuals, Richard Austin Wilson and Nadia Safiyyah Robinson, behind the home, standing beside a vehicle.

After the officers commanded the suspects to raise their hands and get on the ground, they arrested them without “any physical altercation.” However, Wilson and Robinson “continued to yell once they were placed in the back of [the] patrol vehicle.”

“A three-year-old juvenile was released to DFCS custody,” and the officers transported Wilson and Robinson to the Barrow County Detention Center, where they were each charged with first-degree child
