On June 6, 2023, I was dispatched to a domestic altercation at [100 BLOCK] Forte Avenue. As I was responding, dispatch advised that the offender made threats of suicide over the phone. Dispatch advised me that while the 911 operator was talking to the victim, the offender stated, “I am going to kill myself in front of my children.”

Upon my arrival, I met the victim, [VICTIM #1], who stated the offender was trying to walk off. Deputy Butts went around the house and noticed a white female climbing over the fence, coming back into the yard. Deputy Butts made contact with the female, while I continued to talk to [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that his wife, Emily Greeson, arrived at the house intoxicated and was acting hostile to him. [VICTIM #1] stated that he and Emily got into an argument about her alcoholism. [VICTIM #1] stated that when he attempted to remove her phone, Emily shoved him, then slapped him. [VICTIM #1] stated that while he was still on the phone with 911, Emily locked him out of the house and stated, “I am going to kill myself in front of the children.”

[VICTIM #1] stated that he ran to the back door, and when he went back inside, he noticed that Emily had grabbed a large butcher knife. [VICTIM #1] stated he was able to talk her down, and when he was able to do so, he grabbed her hand to make her drop the knife. This entire incident happened in the presence of their three children. [VICTIM #1] stated he was in fear that he would be injured trying to take the knife away from Emily or that his children or Emily may be injured if he did not take the knife away.

As I spoke with Emily, she stated that she had been dealing with mental health problems, (most notably, postpartum depression) and had just left from a two week stay in a mental health facility. I noticed a cut on Emily’s finger. Emily stated that the cut was an accident, and she did not mean to cut herself. As I was talking to Emily, I could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Emily stated she did have a beer before coming over to the house. Emily denied making the suicidal statements, however Baldwin County Dispatch advised that they clearly heard the
